A professional organizer helps lend functionality to the work or living space of the client. They remove clutter and establish a system to organize materials. The Volksboutique angle on this occupation is to augment this initial task with the aesthetic and conceptual creation of a 'Home Museum' - a display structure designed to house the client's ephemera, valued objects, and daily life materials. Creation of the Museum is done in collaboration with the client, to establish display priorities, budget allowances, (is the Museum housed in a custom-built Archive? Is it a Scrapbook? Is it a Shelving System?), and overall aesthetic desire. The result is a functioning, finely tuned work/living space and the proud display of the elements that contribute to the life of their owner.

reception - 1. The act or process of receiving or of being received. 2. A welcome, greeting, or acceptance: a friendly reception. 3. A social function. 4. Mental approval or acceptance. 5. Electronics a. The action of receiving electromagnetic signals b. The condition or quality of received signals.

The Reception Piece fixes flawed reception areas, where usually the primary difficulty is the host institution's inability to allocate funds to renovation. The goal is not to architecturally, nor necessarily expensively, alter the space but to conduct an informative exchange with the receptionist about his/her complaints /visions/ requirements for the space. To bend it to fit his/her agenda and wishes. Perhaps improvement can be achieved with simply a color change, or the addition of personal objects. Similarly, we do not impose a homogenous artistic vision upon the reception area, but we act as a moderator, enabling the area to "bloom". The area should be 'aesthetically improved' but the gain will be far more than aesthetic.

The Volksboutique Accounting Archive provides a tangible record of people's lives. To provide a point of reference and congregation within a community, a reference that primarily occupies itself with establishing and maintaining a paper archive of personal experience and anecdote. The Archive is a container for the community's history, individuals and landmarks. Something that is felt - pages in a book, notations in a ledger. Though not a museum, it does express the desire to collect and house.
