reception

being received. 2. A welcome, greeting, or
acceptance: a friendly reception. 3. A social

quality of received signals.
The Reception Piece fixes flawed reception
areas, where usually the primary difficulty
is the host institution's inability to allocate
funds to renovation. The goal is not to architecturally,
nor necessarily expensively, alter the space
but to conduct an informative exchange with
the receptionist about his/her complaints
/visions/ requirements for the space. To bend
it to fit his/her agenda and wishes. Perhaps
improvement can be achieved with simply a
color change, or the addition of personal
objects. Similarly, we do not impose a homogenous
artistic vision upon the reception area, but
we act as a moderator, enabling the area to
"bloom". The area should be 'aesthetically
improved' but the gain will be far more than
aesthetic.
