Win a Volksboutique Bargain on eBay!

Browse through eBay between Friday, December 1st and 31st, 2006 and you may stumble upon one of twenty-five artists' auctions. All exist under the umbrella of ebayaday, a serial exhibition (one auction debuts each day) of artworks in the form of auctions.
Each listing was created for the online marketplace and uses the entire
listing -- item for sale, online identities, descriptive text and imagery, as well as the nomenclature of eBay's categories -- as elements in the work.
Each individual auction is only visible from the day it launches.

The Volksboutique Auction is *live* from December 14 - December 21.
Now is your opportunity to option the intangible rendered tangible, not to mention foster a lasting relationship with us into 2007. Ladies and Gentlemen, do not allow yourselves to be outbid!

Some Brief Updates:

Supplemental workspace established in Prenzlauer Berg, Berlin - aptly named The Volksboutique Outpost. Should you be Berlin-bound in your immediate future, drop us a line for tours of the neighborhood, including Jörg's phenomenal and rare bicycle shoppe, and quite possibly the best chocolate vendor you have ever experienced.

"Inventory" selected by AIGA for its prestigious "50 Books/50 Covers" award.

Christine continues her guest residency at the Bauhaus University in Weimar, running the wonderfully named Media, Trend and Public Appearance department, which is housed in the Media Faculty.   Students are working on Organizational Ventures entitled "Casino", "Everyday Inventory" and "Portable Office". We will be putting these projects online very soon!

New public art commission for Berlin Alexanderplatz to debut in September 2006.

The Volksboutique Products Division ( located in the former Pencil Factory in delightful Greenpoint, Brooklyn ) was spared any damage in the tremendous (and distressing) Great Fire. We are sorry for the loss of the former Greenpoint Terminal, which was indeed a majestic urban relic. A full report at Gothamist.

Case Studies: Art in a Valise

Katonah Museum of Art
Show Run: June 25 - September 17, 2006

Transience and speed are defining traits of modern culture, and an essential article for a mobile life is the suitcase. Numerous artists have enlisted the suitcase as a central element in their work, exploring its various associations including portability, itinerancy, and the perils and pleasures of travel. Case Studies features 30 suitcase-based works by 20 artists that underline the expressive potential of this commonplace item. The works in the exhibition explore different types of travel, from vacation to business to scientific expedition.
